"Ganza" are the gongs played by the people of the Cordilleras, the Igorots. Ganza are used at social gatherings and during all types of celebrations, sometimes lasting for days. The GANZA is also Brent International School Manila's yearbook. From time to time, you will be receiving a GANZA Moment. This would be in the form of a picture, which represents the ideas of GANZA: community, celebration, remembrance, recognition, and tradition.
Congratulations to Jaewook Jeong, Gabriel Lazaro and Anton Metelmann on Their First Professional Performance.
The trio “Opus Weekend” - Jaewook Jeong (gr. 12), Gabriel Lazaro (gr. 12) and Anton Metelmann (Batch 2016) performed their first professional gig on Saturday, September 10. They fronted for a very popular group here in the Philippines, and their hour-long set was all original material.
Mr. Leggatt watched their performance and said, “This trio can create some color and they were extremely well received by the audience, taking them on a Nirvana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Hendrix influenced ride. Inspirational improvised guitar conversations with blues influenced numbers, and more eclectic harmonically challenging Jaewook's compositions topped by Gab's ingenious lyrics displayed a musical maturity well beyond anything the crowd were expecting. My advice – get your autographs now!”
The trio will play once or twice a month on the Makati circuit. Follow them on their Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/opusweekend/
"I want to give a big thank you to everybody, the Brent community could not be a more supportive and amiable one. Thank you so much Mr. Leggatt for writing that genuine, sincere article about us. I feel so very grateful to be among such kind people; these teachers and staff, who care for and support one another. (and please do check out our music, the band is a lot more interesting than the photo might suggest)." Gabriel Lazaro
